What to expect when starting occupational therapy

A step by step approach, focused on understanding

Step 1: Intake Appointment

Your first session is usually a 90- minute intake appointment. We listen to your concerns, get to know you or your child, and understand what is working and what is hard right now. Together, we decide the next steps and if any assessment is needed.

Step 2: Assessment

If appropriate, your occupational therapist will conduct neurodiversity-affirming assessments with you and/or your child. These will help your OT to work toward your goals in a way that's measurable and matters to you.

Step 3: Ongoing Sessions

Based on availability and your OT's clinical judgement, you will have consistent ongoing bookings on a weekly or fortnightly basis with us to work towards your goals.
